The story of Sankofa
Roots in Ghana
and Europe
Sankofa is a family business with roots in Ghana and Europe. The name comes from an Adinkra symbol from West Africa, represented by a bird turning its head to look back.
It symbolises the idea of learning from the past in order to move forward — a principle that strongly reflects our work in cross-cultural and international communication contexts.
Our experience working across different countries, sectors, and cultures has shaped our belief that communication is not just about language, but about understanding, perspective, and adaptability.
“Se wo were fi na wosankofa a yenkyi” — It is not wrong to go back for what you forgot. Learning from the past to move forward.

Sometimes speaking the same language is not enough… you need also to understand how culture shapes the messages. Sankofa helped me to improve my vocabulary and to be more effective communicating cross-culturally.
